In 1995 Dr.
Hebert was invited to Guatemala City, Guatemala to visit with
selected governmental agencies and businesses in the city.
During the week long visit, he was invited to visit several
historical sites throughout the City of Guatemala as well as in
Antigua, the original capital of the country. Here we see the
central cathedral located on the open square in the center of
Guatemala City. A major open market is located under the open
square. The original governor’s palace and other Colonial
government offices surround the open square.
This was an
exploratory trip designed to determine possible future activities
that could be undertaken by Harding University. Based on
information gathered from this visit plans are presently taking
place to conduct an international business “travel course”
consisting of visits to Guatemala and other selected Central
American countries. This would be a structured course at the
graduate level to introduce students to cultural, governmental, and
business activities in Central America.
